Card bend & dent repair

A bend is a curve or warp in the card that hasn't broken the stock — think of a card that was mailed in a soft envelope, sat in a tight pocket, or warped from humidity. Bends are among the most treatable defects we see, because the card stock's structure is still intact.

Our flattening process uses gradual humidity control and even pressure over days, not aggressive heat pressing. Heat can restore flatness quickly, but it also crushes the card's texture and gloss in ways graders and trained collectors spot immediately. We don't do it.

What bend and dent repair involves

  • Assessment of the bend's direction, severity, and any stress marks along the curve
  • A free written estimate with expected results before work begins
  • Gradual, controlled flattening under humidity and even pressure
  • Full photographic documentation of the process

What to expect

Most bends flatten out completely or nearly so. Sharp bends that left a visible stress line are treated more like light creases — the card will sit flat again, but the line may remain faintly visible. Warping from moisture exposure usually resolves fully.

Pricing

Bend and dent repair starts at $50 for the first defect, with each additional at $10. If the card also has creases or indents, the most severe defect sets the baseline fee and everything else bills at the lower each-additional rate — see the pricing page for exactly how a multi-defect card is priced.

Common questions

Can a bent Pokémon card be fixed?

In most cases, yes. Gradual humidity and pressure treatment restores flatness to most bent cards. Sharp bends that left a stress line behave more like light creases — flat again, but the line may stay faintly visible.

Do you use heat pressing to flatten cards?

No. Heat pressing flattens quickly but crushes the card's texture and gloss in ways graders and experienced collectors can detect. We flatten gradually with humidity and even pressure instead.

How much does it cost to flatten a bent card?

Bend repair starts at $50 for the first defect and $10 for each additional. Estimates are free.
